Does it cost to be in the competition?
There is a course fee of $79 and includes entry into the competition. The course fee is required to join the competition because of the focus and intent of this program to educate and activate more social entrepreneurs. To learn more about what is included in this course fee, visit the Contest page. A very limited number of scholarships will be available to entrepreneurs who are not able to afford the course fee.
Who created this competition?
This competition was created by Spryte Loriano President of HUB (Humanity Unites Brilliance) and Feed333 and Robert Evans founder of The Messenger Network and creator of the Next Top Spiritual Author Competition.
Who else is involved?
The competition's course is made up of visionary social entrepreneurs, trainers, speakers, and leaders from all over the world. All contributors to this course are living examples of being social entrepreneurs.
What is meant by a "Social Entrepreneur"?
The definition of a social entrepreneur is - "someone who recognizes a social problem and uses entrepreneurial principles to organize, create, and manage a venture to make social change. Whereas a business entrepreneur typically measures performance in profit and return, a social entrepreneur focuses on creating social capital. Thus, the main aim of social entrepreneurship is to further social and environmental goals." Wikipedia
Who can participate in this competition?
Anyone who feels they are a social entrepreneur, wants to become one, has an idea that can impact the world, or is a social for profit or non-profit enterprise.
However, you must be of the age of majority in your state/Provence/country of residence.
I live outside the US. Can I still participate?
Yes, anyone anywhere in the world can sign-up and be a part of this competition but participation is subject to compliance with your local/country laws.
Will you actually match us up with funding companies?
No, we do not guarantee a match to any funding sources. This competition will garner the attention of many companies and organizations that support social enterprises and every participant will have the opportunity to expose their idea to these companies and the entire world.
How long is the competition?
The competition consists of four rounds, starting September 6th 2010 and ending February 2011. Details on each round can be found on the Contest page. Registration for the competition will close September 6th, the start date of the first round.
How many SE's will advance through each round?
Round 1 will be all registered SE's. Round 2 will advance 10% of the total number of registered SE's. Round 3 will advance 25 SE's. Round 4 will consist of the final 5 SE's.
If I don't advance, what happens?
This is the greatest benefit of joining this competition. No matter how far you advance, you will still receive the powerful education from our faculty and learn ways to be a successful social entrepreneur.
How will my database build? Will I get the emails of the people that vote for my idea?
No, we do not give out the email addresses of voters to any participant. Each SE will have a profile on the site and each profile will have a field for voters to signup to get more information from the SE about that idea. With tens of thousands of people visiting the site, databases will grow fast and will ALL be opt-in legitimate email lists.
What does the course fee give me?
The $79 entry fee gives you the following - an account at our community course support site and access to the ENTIRE social entrepreneur curriculum as it comes out over the next 7 months. You will also get a SE account in the Best Brilliant Idea for Humanity competition site to present your idea and have the opportunity to advance and win the competition.
What is required of me as a SE in this competition?
Each SE will need to follow the steps outlined in each round and meet the set timelines to present their idea. Certain actions MUST be taken and completed by the set deadlines to be eligible for each round. If they are not, then you will forfeit yourself from advancing to the next round. We are sorry because of the scope of this competition, we cannot make any exceptions. Other than that, your efforts to promote yourself will be very important to ensure advancement in this competition.
How do people vote for me?
A person will visit your profile and preview the content you have provided about your idea. From there they will need to register as a voter, confirm their email, and login to vote. After logging in they are then given simple instructions on how to vote for the SE's they want to support.
How will people hear about this competition and vote for me?
This competition will be promoted via email blasts, web promotions, advertising, and word of mouth. Hundreds of thousands of people will be invited to site when it launches from the creators email lists, emails from sponsors of the competition, the faculty, and most significantly from the efforts of each SE.
How many times can a person vote?
A registered voter can vote one time, in each round, for each SE they want to support moving forward in the competition. Yes they can vote for more than one SE but only once for each author in each round. A SE can vote for themselves or other SE's.
What is required of a person to vote for a person in this competition?
A voter will need to register to vote. A confirmation email will be sent to the voter to confirm that their email address is real and to activate their account. Once they have been activated, all they have to do to vote for a SE is click the vote button on their profile page.
Will voters be contacted after they registered?
Voters will be contacted by the adminstrators of the site with updates on the competition at start of each new round and occasional emails on our faculty and the work they are doing in the world. They will also be notified about special opportunities and programs offered by the creators of the competition (Robert Evans - The Messenger Network and Spryte Loriano - HUB). Each will provide simple opt-out methods from their list without impacting the account of the voter has in this competition.

If I make it to Round 3 will I receive a royalty on the compilation book published and promoted by HUB?
No, the book will serve as a promotional tool for your idea only. No royalties will be paid. The book will however serve a social purpose by raising revenue for a project defined by HUB. You do have the option to not participate in the book if you do want the exposure or your writing published. However, as a contributor to this book, you will receive special wholesale pricing to purchase it and resell it to your own database and networks, and becomes a powerful promotional tool for you and your social enterprise.
How long does each round last?
- Round one will last 5 weeks

What is a "Launch Campaign," which is the major reward the winner will receive?
A launch campaign is a strategic worldwide launch of your business / idea using the internet, affiliate marketing, web technologies and other marketing techniques. This form of marketing is highly effective in attracting massive exposure to your business, generating income, building your list, and bringing awareness to your cause. The winning package will include the organizing of this launch, the technology setup, the affiliate technologies, the website and marketing material and other components that will increase the success of that launch. We estimate this package to be worth $50,000.
The winner will also receive a 7-day vacation package for two to the Grail Springs Resort and Spa in Ontario Canada.
Will you use my name and likeness?
Maybe. Your participation in the Competition grants us the right to use of your name(s), voice(s) and likeness(es), and any and all rights to said use, without compensation for purposes of advertising, marketing, publicity and promotion.
How will I know if I am a winner of the Competition?
Winners of the Competition will be contacted via email and posted as a winner on this website.
If I win, must I sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release of Liability?
Yes. In order to claim your prize you must sign our standard Affidavit of Eligibility and Release of Liability.
Upon acceptance of the prize(s), winner(s) forever fully release and discharge us and our parent, subsidiaries and related companies, affiliates, agencies, and each of their/its respective directors, officers, employees, consultants, successors, agents and assigns from any and all liability for injury or damage to property regarding the promotion and the prize(s). Winner(s) assume all liability for any injury or damage caused, or claim to be caused, by participation in this promotion or use or redemption of any prize(s).
What do I do with the Affidavit of Eligibility and Release of Liability?
Potential winner(s) of the Competition must return any required Affidavit of Eligibility/Release of Liability/Prize Acceptance Form and if legally permissible, a publicity release as well as any other required documents within fourteen (14) days of date of notification or such prize will be forfeited and will result in their disqualification and an alternate winner will be selected. Noncompliance within this time period or return of any prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and an alternate winner will be selected.
